The popular view of wifely submission put forward in online trad spaces often resembles a master/slave relationship. In this view, she surrenders all her thoughts for his, all her hopes for his, gives up the sum of her will for his.

The online arguments about these issues grow tiresome because they are a never-ending process of some people reacting with disgust to this view and others triggering and egging on those responses. 

The deeper problem is that neither side understands that this view is fake, a pretend cartoon of what healthy wifely submission would look like in the first place.
